Symingtons was electric on Sunday morning with 20 goals over 3 big games including two local derbies. The u13s Pumas lost 6-0 against a top side which usually get double figures while the u13 Lions defeated their Harborough Town counterparts 4-3 in a gripping cup match. See the Harborough Mail for these reports.

Meanwhile the under 9 Hawks faced Harborough Town Riders in a game that has been rehearsed a dozen times a week at various Harborough primary schools. Both teams have been getting good results this season and the gradual seeding system of the Leicester League matched them for the last game before the winter break.

The first 10 minutes was nip and tuck, but then the Hawks came alive with a ten minute spell of magical attacking play that was more suited an El Classico encounter at the Nou Camp than a sodden recreation ground in Leicestershire. One-twos, overlapping counterattacks and long distance rockets were all on display. Superb team play was attracting the attention of all around.

The second half was more equal as the Riders tightened up and produced some good attacks of their own.

We cannot publicise scores at this age level: Borough won the first half and Town won the second. The match was a great advert for the town as the players and fans enjoyed some exciting football between two great clubs.

Training as usual this weekend – follow @boroughalliance on twitter if you want to now first about postponements.
